I'm a firm believer in getting students out of the classroom and into experiences in nature. If students get out of their element, in a new place that stimulates their senses, that's where the best learning happens. - Nick Baer, Assistant Professor, Natural Sciences

Health and counseling services at Baird Health and Counseling Center are available to all full-time CSC students. BHCC is licensed by the state of New Hampshire as an educational health facility. We believe in a holistic approach to students' healthcare and therefore the clinicians from both health and counseling work together as a team.
Many physical symptoms or ailments are influenced by psychological or social problems and both areas need to be addressed in order to achieve optimum health. Both health and counseling staff have access to students' medical records but all information is confidential and no information leaves the health center without the student's written consent (unless a student is a danger to self or others). This includes parents, faculty and administration.
Services available at BHCC include: evaluation and treatment of common acute and chronic health problems such as upper respiratory infections, strep infections, mono, gastrointestinal disorders, nutritional counseling including the treatment of eating disorders.
BHCC also offers well woman exams and contraceptive services including emergency contraception or the morning after pill, testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections including HIV testing and counseling, pregnancy testing and counseling. The center also provides services such as immunizations, stress management including alternative therapies such as Reiki, evaluation and treatment of anxiety disorders, depression, adjustment disorder, post traumatic stress syndrome and relationship problems.
The staff at BHCC is qualified to evaluate and treat most problems a student may have; however, if there is a problem we do not feel qualified to treat, there are a number of specialists in the area we refer to including the providers at New London Hospital, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and Concord Hospital.
The health center is open Monday through Friday 8 AM to 5 PM and some posted evening hours. In the event of an emergency or a problem which cannot wait until the health center is open, New London Hospital is 1 mile away and has 24 hour emergency services.

Disability Resources (DR) is the designated office of Colby-Sawyer College that obtains and files disability-related documents, certifies eligibility for disability services, determines reasonable accommodations, and develops and coordinates plans for the provision of such accommodations for students. The Center is housed within and affiliated with Colby-Sawyer College's Academic Development Center.
Students diagnosed with physical and/or mental impairments qualify as persons with disabilities when their conditions substantially limit them in one or more major life activities. Colby-Sawyer College provides reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities with consultation from their academic programs. Reasonable accommodations are adjustments to policies, practices, or procedures that facilitate equal access and opportunity for students with disabilities to the university's programs, activities and services. In order to ensure that students' needs are directly linked to these accommodations, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) allow higher education institutions to require disability documentation to verify disability status and the need for reasonable accommodations.
Disability Resources (DR) has established the following disability documentation guidelines.
Colby-Sawyer College is deeply committed to the full participation of students with disabilities in all aspects of college life, including residential life. With this in mind, the college has established procedures to ensure that students with disabilities have equal access to CSC's housing resources. Please refer to the Disability Resources link for the complete process for requesting disability-related housing accommodations, including deadlines. Students must follow these procedures and provide all of the required information in order to be considered for disability housing accommodations.
Documentation must be:
- Recent enough to assess the current impact on learning or a major life activity. Please refer to specific documentation guidelines for each type of disability. Please note that students requesting accommodations due to a chronic medical condition must submit documentation dated within six (6) months as well as annually updated documentation.
- Sufficiently comprehensive to establish clear evidence of a substantial impact on one or more major life activities.
- Sufficient to establish a direct link between the underlying impairment and the requested accommodations.
- Issued by a medical or other qualified, licensed professional, printed on letterhead, dated, signed, and including the professional's licensing information.
- Documentation for Specific Disabilities
