“The lasting value of my Capstone will be the knowledge and experience I gained in supporting such growth and development in my students through the project.”
Courtney Bodine, Graphic Design major
- Two documented MMR vaccinations or proof of a positive titer.
- Review of TB status according to the guidelines on the immunization form and a TB Mantoux skin test including result for students who are in a defined risk category. If there is a history of a positive skin test, a chest x-ray report is required.
- Review of chicken pox (varicella) status.
- In addition, all childhood primary vaccinations that are required for school entrance by NH Department of Health and Human Services (including MMR, DPT, Hepatitis B series, Polio series and Varicella vaccine if no history of disease) are also required by Colby-Sawyer College and must be documented.
- Review and update of Tetanus vaccine status. It is strongly recommended that those students needing a tetanus booster receive a one-time Tdap vaccine which will also protect them from whooping cough. (At this time students entering the health care professions are required to have Tdap vaccine.)
- Hepatitis A vaccine (a series of two doses)
- Meningitis vaccine (one dose)
- Pneumococcal vaccine
- Varicella vaccine 2nd vaccine if not already received (and if no history of disease)
- Gardasil vaccine for women
- Tdap (tetanus, low dose diphtheria and acellular pertussis) vaccine when tetanus booster is appropriate.
- Flu vaccine annually (available on campus at our Fall Flu Clinics)
A letter to help you make informed choices regarding the recommended vaccination against bacterial meningitis will be sent to all incoming first year students so that they may discuss this information with their private healthcare provider prior to entrance.
Menactra vaccine was approved by the FDA in January 2005 for protection against meningococcal disease and can be ordered for administration at BHCC with a prepayment of $85 (our cost for a single dose of the vaccine).
