2007 Women's Volleyball has Record-Breaking Season, Finish as ECAC Runner-up
Even without the presence of a senior, the 2007 Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team had high expectations going into the season. They wouldn't disappoint as the team comprised of three juniors, six sophomores, and six freshmen played in two championship matches to end the season.
Moore Named Female Athlete of the Month
Doody Chosen Rookie of the Year, First-Team by New Hampshire DIII Volleyball Coaches; Forsberg tabbed as First-Team All-Granite State
NEW LONDON, N.H. – The 2007 All-Granite State NCAA Division III Volleyball Team was announced and Colby-Sawyer's Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.) was chosen as NH Rookie of the Year and was a First-Team All-State selection and New Hampshire's own Taylor Forsberg (Moultonborough, N.H.) was also chosen as a First-Team selection. Kristen Romanko (Mansfield, Mass.) and Genny Moore (Centerville, Mass.) were both selected Second-Team All-Granite State.
Chargers Finish No. 13 in Final NEWVA Poll
NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team has closed out the 2007 season with a No. 13 ranking in the New England Women's Volleyball Association (NEWVA) Division III Volleyball poll. The Chargers finished the season at 28-8 overall, 25-7 in regional competition.
Colby-Sawyer Volleyball Sweeps Final TCCC Weekly Awards
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – November 12, 2007 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team has swept the final The Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly awards, as Taylor Forsberg, Genny Moore and Michelle Doody all earned conference recognition. Forsberg was named Libero of the Week for the third time this year, Doody was named Rookie of the Week for the fourth time and Moore earned her first Player of the Week award.
Brandeis Downs Colby-Sawyer in ECAC Championship Game
WALTHAM, Mass. – November 10, 2007 - The Brandeis University volleyball team successfully defended its Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England title today with a 3-0 win over Colby-Sawyer College. The top-seeded Judges won 30-21, 30-22, 30-26 over the No. 3 seeded Chargers. Brandeis junior outside hitter Lorraine Wingenbach (Buffalo, N.Y.) was named tournament MVP for the second year in a row.

WALTHAM, Mass. - November 10, 2007 - The Chargers of Colby-Sawyer advanced to the ECAC Division III New England Women's Volleyball Championship match on Saturday afternoon, downing Coast Guard Academy 3-0 in the semifinal round of the tournament. The Chargers advance to play Brandeis in the championship game for the second year in a row.
Chargers Advance With Win Over Smith
NEW LONDON, N.H. – November 7, 2007 – Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.) tallied 18 kills and Genny Moore (Centerville, Mass.) added 57 assists as the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College defeated the Pioneers of Smith College 3-1 in the quarterfinal round of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) New England Women's Volleyball tournament Wednesday night. The Chargers defeated the Pioneers 30-22, 27-30, 30-16, 30-27 to advance to the semifinal round of the tournament on Saturday.
Colby-Sawyer Earns Second Consecutive ECAC Tournament Appearance
CAPE COD, Mass – November 5, 2007 – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team earned their second consecutive bid to the ECAC Division III Women's New England Volleyball Championship, securing the No 3 seed in the upcoming eight-team tournament field. CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – October 13, 2007 – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team suffered just their third loss of the season Saturday, falling to MIT 3-0, but rebounded with wins over Greensboro College (3-1) and Eastern Connecticut (3-0) at the MIT Quad Tournament. The Chargers are now 19-3 on the year.

Taylor had an excellent month for the Chargers as she was twice named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Libero of the Month and led the Chargers to their 16-1 start and a perfect 5-0 conference record.

Colby-Sawyer Downs Lasell 3-1; Improves to 12-0
HARTFORD, Conn. – September 21, 2007 - The Chargers improved to 12-0 on the season with a 3-1 win over Lasell College on Friday night at the Trinity College Tournament. The Chargers won the first two games before dropping the third, and came back in convincing fashion to take the match 30-24, 30-25, 26-30, 30-14.

NEW LONDON, N.H. - September 18, 2007 - The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team improved to 11-0 Tuesday evening, defeating in-state rival Keene State 3-2 in non-conference action for both teams. The Chargers were led by 15 kills from freshman outside hitter Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.) and 13 kills from sophomore outside hitter Megan White (Monroe, Conn.) off the bench.

Providence, R.I. – The Colby-Sawyer women's volleyball team improved to 4-0 on Tuesday evening with a 3-0 victory over non-conference opponent Johnson & Wales. The match was a rematch of the semifinals of the 2006 ECAC Division III Championship.
Chargers Capture Springfield Tournament Title
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- September 1, 2007 – Overcoming a 2-1 deficit in the championship match of the Springfield College Tournament, the Colby-Sawyer Chargers defeated Springfield College 3-2 (30-27, 25-30, 22-30, 30-22, 15-8) to capture the tournament championship and improve to 3-0 on the season. Sophomore setter Genny Moore (Centerville, Mass./Barnstable) was named the tournament's most valuable player, recording 44 assists and 11 digs in the championship match.
Chargers Picked Second In Preseason Poll
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Colby-Sawyer College, who finished last season as the No. 3 seed in The Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament, has been picked as the preseason's No. 2 team. Endicott, last season's conference champion, was picked to finish first. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the league's head volleyball coaches.
