Foss, Lee and MacEachern Named to TCCC All-Academic Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - May 31, 2009 – Nineteen Colby-Sawyer athletes were named to the Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Commissioner Gregg Kaye. A total of 362 student-athletes were honored and all 14 institutions in The Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the Academic All-Conference Team.

2009 Season Recap

The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team began the 2009 season as a young and inexperience squad under first-year head coach, Jody Bergstrom. The team featured only three seniors, two juniors and four sophomores, while the 13 freshmen were heavily involved from game one. The season was off to a promising 2-0 start before the team struggled with several close matches. Nevertheless, the team dominated a late season conference match at Nichols to secure their fifth straight The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) tournament appearance and their eighth in the last nine seasons.

Allicia Murphy Earns All-TCCC First Team Accolades

NEW LONDON, N.H. - April 29, 2009 - Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse senior Allicia Murphy (North Bennington, Vt.) has been named to the All-TCCC Women's Lacrosse First Team according to a press release issued by the conference office. Murphy was named to the second team last season and was on the honorable mention team in 2006.

Top Seeded Endicott Defeats Colby-Sawyer, 21-8 in TCCC First Round

BEVERLY, Mass. - April 28, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team was defeated by the top seeded Endicott Gulls, 21-8 in the first round of The Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament. The Gulls improve to 13-4 overall this year while Colby-Sawyer wraps up its season at 3-11.

Plymouth State Defeats Colby-Sawyer 17-13 in Regular Season Finale

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 23, 2009 – Plymouth State freshman Brianna Davis (Framingham, Mass.) scored six times to lead the visiting Panthers past Colby-Sawyer, 17-13 on senior day at Kelsey Field. The Chargers finish the regular season with a 3-10 record and will travel to Endicott on Tuesday, April 28 for a TCCC tournament opening round match.

Saturday's women's lacrosse game against Regis has been cancelled. Senior Day will take place during Thursday's contest against Plymouth State beginning at 4:00 p.m.

Colby-Sawyer Finishes TCCC Action with 18-4 Win over Nichols

DUDLEY, Mass. – April 18, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team snapped a nine-game losing streak with an 18-4 The Commonwealth Coast Conference victory over Nichols at Vendetti Field Saturday afternoon. The Chargers improve to 3-9 overall and 2-7 in TCCC games. The Bison fall to 3-8 overall and 0-7 in TCCC action.

Colby-Sawyer Shutout By Endicott, 16-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – April 14, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer lacrosse team was shutout by the Gulls of Endicott, 16-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. The win keeps Endicott unbeaten in TCCC play at 7-0 and 10-2 overall, while the Chargers fall to 2-9 and 1-7 in league action.

Colby-Sawyer Falls to Keene State, 14-6

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 13, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team was defeated by Keene State, 14-6 on a blistery Monday afternoon. The win improves the Owls' record to 5-7 overall, while the Chargers fall to 2-7 on the season.

Roger Williams Soars Past Chargers, 17-11

BRISTOL, R.I.- April 11, 2009- The Roger Williams University Women's Lacrosse team posted a 14-3 halftime lead and endured a strong second half by the visiting Chargers of Colby-Sawyer to earn a 17-11 Commonwealth Coast Conference victory on a cold and rainy Saturday morning.

Chargers Fall to MIT, 18-4

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – April 9, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-4 decision to MIT in non-conference action on Thursday. Elaina Kennedy (Sunderland, Mass.) paced the Chargers (2-6) with two goals.

Curry Defeats Colby-Sawyer, 22-9

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 8, 2009 – The Chargers fell to the Curry Colonels, 22-9 on Wednesday afternoon in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action. The Colonels improve their overall record to 8-4 and go to 3-2 in TCCC play. The Chargers drop to 2-5 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Pilgrims Sail Past Chargers, 12-9

HENNIKER, N.H. - April 4, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer lacrosse team was defeated by New England College, 12-9 on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers have dropped four straight and have an overall record of 2-4 and a conference record of 1-4. The Pilgrims are 3-4 overall and 3-2 in TCCC play.

Colby-Sawyer Falls to Gordon, 17-9

MANCHESTER, N.H. – March 31, 2009 – Gordon senior Danielle Zorn (Mercer Island, Wash.) scored six goals to lift the Fighting Scots of Gordon past Colby-Sawyer 17-9 in TCCC women's lacrosse action on Tuesday evening. The win evens Gordon's record to 3-3 overall and improves their TCCC record to 3-1. With the loss, the Chargers fall to 2-3 overall and 1-3 in TCCC action.

Colby-Sawyer Falls to Western New England, 20-5

MANCHESTER, N.H. - March 28, 2009 – The Western New England College women's lacrosse team earned a 20-5 win over Colby-Sawyer behind a six goal performance from sophomore Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, N.Y.). The Golden Bears improve to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in TCCC action, while the Chargers fall to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

Allicia Murphy Named ECAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week

NEW LONDON, N.H. - March 26, 2009 - Senior Allicia Murphy (No. Bennington, Vt.), along with Kate Sheridan of Colby College, was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the ECAC. Earlier this week, Murphy was also named TCCC Offensive Player of the Week.

Late Rally Not Enough To Surpass UNE; Nor'easters Win 13-12

BIDDEFORD, Maine - March 25, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer College lacrosse team rallied late, scoring the games final three goals, but could not surpass the University of New England. The Nor'easters held on for a 13-12 victory in The Commonwealth Coast Conference women's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon.

Chargers Pull Away Late in 12-8 Win over Salve Regina

MANCHESTER, N.H. - March 21, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team closed the game with four straight goals en route to a 12-8 win over Salve Regina, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference contest, Saturday afternoon. The game was played at Southern New Hampshire University. The Chargers are now 2-0 overall and 1-0 in TCCC play, while the Seahawks dip to 0-3 overall and 0-1 in conference action.

Chargers Open 2009 Season With 21-3 Victory Over Anna Maria

PAXTON, Mass. – March 14, 2009 - Senior Allicia Murphy (North Bennington, Vt.) scored six times, while putting all eight of her shots on goal, to help propel Colby-Sawyer College to a 21-3 victory over Anna Maria College in a Division III women's lacrosse matchup at Wachusett Regional High School on Saturday afternoon. It was the season opener for the Chargers, who now improve to 1-0 with the win. The loss drops the AMCATS to 0-2 overall in the program's first season.

Lacrosse Picked Sixth In Pre-season Poll

NEW LONDON, N.H.- February 23, 2009- The Colby-Sawyer women's lacrosse team was picked to finish sixth for the upcoming 2009 season in the pre-season poll, receiving 44 votes. The Chargers finished the 2008 season in sixth place with an overall record of 6-10, and a conference record of 5-5.
