Hebert and Stravinsky Named to TCCC All-Academic Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - May 31, 2009 – Nineteen Colby-Sawyer athletes were named to the Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Commissioner Gregg Kaye. A total of 362 student-athletes were honored and all 14 institutions in The Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the Academic All-Conference Team.

2008-2009 Women's Basketball Recap

The 2008-09 Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team finished their season with a 16-10 overall record, marking the fourteenth straight year the program has earned at least 15 wins. Despite falling short of repeating as TCCC Champions, the women enjoyed another season as being one of the most respected programs in the region. Spectators enjoyed an entertaining and well-played season, as they witnessed several individual accomplishments and even the breaking of an all-time record.

Duffy and Pasquale Earn NH All-State Honors

NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 23, 2009 – Junior Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.) and senior Emma Pasquale (Eilot, Maine) were honored on Monday, as the New Hampshire NCAA Division III Basketball Coaches Association announced their 2008-09 All-State Teams.

Pasquale Selected to Play in Senior All-Star Classic

NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 16, 2009 – Colby-Sawyer women's basketball senior Emma Pasquale (Eliot, Maine) has been selected to participate in the 2009 Senior All-Star Classic, sponsored by the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA). The contest will take place on Saturday, March 28, at Western New England.

Pasquale Scores 1000th Point in 64-44 Loss to WPI

Worcester, Mass. - March 4, 2009 - Senior Emma Pasquale (Eliot, Maine) recorded her 1000th career point, but the second-seeded WPI earned a 64-44 triumph over seventh-seeded Colby-Sawyer in an ECAC New England Championship women's basketball first round game Wednesday evening at Harrington Auditorium.

Women's Basketball Earns Bid to ECAC Tournament; Travels to WPI

NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 2, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team has earned a trip to the ECAC tournament beginning on Wednesday, March 4. The Chargers are the No. 7 seed in the tournament and will travel to the No. 2 seed WPI for a 7:00 p.m. tip on Wednesday evening.

Colby-Sawyer Upset by Salve Regina, 68-56 in Opening Round of TCCC Playoffs

NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 24, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team was upset by Salve Regina Tuesday evening, 68-56, in the TCCC Quarterfinals. Despite double-doubles from both Emma Pasquale (Eliot, Maine) and Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.), the Chargers were unable to overcome the hot shooting of Salve Regina and their senior co-captain Allegra Lovoy (Charlestown, R.I.) who finished with 28 points.

Martin Wins 300th; Gets Ready for Playoffs

NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 23, 2009 – Colby-Sawyer women's basketball Head Coach George Martin earned his 300th career win, as his team defeated Western New England College, 54-47, on Saturday, February 21. Martin's accomplishment occurred almost a year-to-the date that men's basketball coach Bill Foti earned his 300th win against the Golden Bears.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – February 21, 2009 - Freshman guard Maggie Rossi (Fairhaven, MA) came off the bench to score 11 points and junior forward Terri Duffy (Marshfield, MA) had a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds as the Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team posted a 54-47 victory over Western New England College in the final game of the regular season for both teams.

Colby-Sawyer Defeats Wentworth, 51-41 on Senior Night

NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 18, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team celebrated its Senior Night with a 51-41 victory over Wentworth, Wednesday evening. Junior Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.) recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 21 points and 14 rebounds. The Chargers improve to 15-8 overall and 9-3 in the conference, while the Leopards drop to 5-19 and 3-9 in TCCC action.

Nor'easters Finish Game On A 7-1 Run To Earn Road Victory

NEW LONDON, R.I. – February 14, 2009 – The University of New England came up with two steals in the final minute to come from behind for a 72-71 victory over the Chargers, in TCCC action Saturday. The Nor'easters used a 7-1 run in the final two and a half minutes to escape with the one-point road victory. UNE moves to 17-6 overall and 10-1 in TCCC play. The Chargers fall to 14-8 overall and remain in fourth place in the TCCC with an 8-3 record.

Pasquale's Fourth Double-Double Leads Chargers Past Gordon, 69-38

WENHAM, Mass. - February 10, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team cruised to a 69-38 victory over Gordon, Tuesday evening at the Bennett Center. The loss drops Gordon to 4-18 and 3-7 in Commonwealth Coast Conference play. The Chargers improve to 14-7, 8-2 in TCCC action.

Duffy Earns NEWBA Honor Roll Accolades

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – February 10, 2009 – Colby-Sawyer women's basketball junior Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.) was selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll for the week of February 2-8. Duffy averaged a double-double on 13.5 points and 15.0 rebounds per game in a 1-1 week for Colby-Sawyer. She piled up game highs of 17 points and 23 boards in the Chargers 66-51 triumph over Salve Regina University on Saturday. Her 23 rebounds were a career best, and it was her sixth double-double of the season.

NEWPORT, R.I. – February 7, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team defeated Salve Regina, 66-51 to take over sole possession of fourth place in the TCCC standings. The Chargers improve to 13-7 overall and 7-2 in conference play, while the Seahawks dip to 14-7 overall and 6-3 in the TCCC. Colby-Sawyer junior Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.) recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and a career-high 23 rebounds. The 23 rebounds ranks as the fourth highest total in a single game in Colby-Sawyer women's basketball history.

Chargers Drop Conference Game Versus Endicott, 63-56

BEVERLY, Mass. – February 4, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team snapped their two game winning streak by dropping Wednesday night's game, 63-56, to the Endicott Gulls. With the loss the Chargers drop to 12-7 overall and 6-2 in TCCC play. The Gulls improve to 16-4 overall and move to 7-1 in the TCCC.

QUINCY, Mass. – January 29, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team cruised to a 79-38 victory over Eastern Nazarene in TCCC action, Thursday evening. Junior Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.) led all players with 21 points and eight rebounds. The Chargers improve to 11-6 overall and 5-1 in the TCCC.

Chargers Suffer First TCCC Loss; Fall to Nichols 59-40

DUDLEY, Mass. - January 24, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers suffered their first conference defeat of the season on Saturday in a 59-40 loss to Nichols. The Bison, now 14-2 overall and 5-0 in TCCC play, have won 13 straight games. Colby-Sawyer drops to 10-6 overall and 4-1 in conference action after seeing its five-game win streak snapped.

NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 13, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team cruised to a 77-59 victory over New England College on Tuesday night. Sophomore Katelyn Stravinsky (Norwell, Mass.) led all Chargers with a career-high 15 points, on 6-9 shooting. With the win, Colby-Sawyer improves to 8-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference. The Pilgrims fall to 6-7 overall and 0-2 in TCCC action.

NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 10, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team opened TCCC play with a 74-64 victory over Regis, on Saturday afternoon. The Chargers have won two games in a row and are now 7-5 overall and 1-0 in TCCC action. Regis suffers its third loss of the season falling to 10-3 overall and 0-1 in the TCCC.

NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 8, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team snapped its four-game losing streak with a 59-53 come from behind victory over Middlebury, on Thursday evening. Senior Ellen Naughton (Reading, Mass.) had a game-high 18 points en route to the Chargers victory. Colby-Sawyer improves to 6-5, while the Panthers dip below .500 with a 5-6 record.

Chargers Defeated by RPI, 67-45

TROY, N.Y. - January 6, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team was defeated by RPI, 67-45 on Tuesday, January 6 in Troy, N.Y. The Chargers even their record to 5-5, while RPI improves to 8-2. Colby-Sawyer begins a stretch of four home games in a row on Thursday, January 8 against Middlebury at 5:30 p.m.

Chargers Fall to Bowdoin, 54-45

NEW LONDON, N.H. – December 11, 2008 – The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team dropped their first home game of the season to Bowdoin, 54-45 on Thursday evening. The Chargers were unable to overcome a one point halftime deficit as they fall to 5-4 on the young season while Bowdoin improves to 6-2.

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – December 2, 2008 - Junior Terri Duffy (Marshfield, Mass.) scored a game-high 29 points Tuesday evening as Colby-Sawyer College handed Plymouth State University its first loss of the season, 66-56, in a non-conference women's basketball game at Foley Gymnasium.

Chargers Defeat Lesley 74-51 in Season Opener

NEW LONDON, N.H. – November 16, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers opened their season with an impressive 74-51 victory over Lesley, on Sunday afternoon. Before the start of the game the 2007-08 squad was honored for their TCCC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearances. Noelle Surette '08 was also recognized as the newest member of the 1,000 point club.

Lesley Game Rescheduled

The Colby-Sawyer women's basketball game against Lesley, originally scheduled for Saturday, November 15 has been rescheduled to Sunday, November 16 at 1:00 p.m.

2008-2009 Season Preview

The 2008-2009 Colby-Sawyer women's basketball team returns 14 players from last year's TCCC Championship squad. However, the team did lose one player to graduation, Noelle Surette, whom nearly averaged a double-double in her senior season with 13.6 points per game and 8.4 rebounds per game. She finished her career with 1158 points, ranking her fourth all-time and becoming the program's ninth 1000 point scorer.

Chargers Chosen as TCCC Preseason Favorites
