Head Coach Kord Schwarz resigns

NEW LONDON, N.H. - May 15, 2009 - Colby-Sawyer tennis Head Coach Kord Schwarz has resigned after spending a season as the leader of the men's tennis team. This year's team went 9-9 and was knocked out in the TCCC semifinals by eventual champion Roger Williams. A search for Kord's replacement is currently in progress. Any inquiries can be directed towards Athletic Director Deb McGrath.

For the ninth straight season the Colby-Sawyer College men's tennis team advanced to the semi-final round of The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) tournament and had 9+ wins for the eleventh year in a row.

Chargers Fall to Roger Williams in TCCC Semifinals

BRISTOL, R.I.- April 24, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team fell to the Hawks of Roger Williams, 5-0 in Friday's TCCC Semifinal contest. The Hawks advance to play Salve Regina for the conference championship.

Wednesday's TCCC Semifinals match that was postponed due to inclement weather will take place on Friday, April 24 at 3:00 p.m at Roger Williams University.

Callahan and Taylor Earn All-TCCC Accolades

NEW LODON, N.H. – April 21, 2009 – Colby-Sawyer men's tennis player's sophomore Hart Callahan (Malvern, Pa.) and senior Ben Taylor (Derry, N.H.) have been recognized by The Commonwealth Coast Conference for their performance on the court this season in an announcement made by the conference commissioner.

Today's TCCC Semifinals match has been postponed due to inclement weather. The match is tentatively scheduled to take place on Wednesday, April 22 at 3:00 p.m.

Chargers Advance to TCCC Semifinals with 5-2 Victory over Nichols

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 18, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team earned a trip to the TCCC Semifinals with a 5-2 victory over the fifth seed Nichols. The Chargers will play at Roger Williams on Tuesday, April 21 at 2:00 p.m. for a chance to go to the conference championship match. Colby-Sawyer is now 9-8 on the season and Nichols finishes with a 12-8 record.

Chargers Win Regular Season Finale over Wentworth, 5-4

BOSTON, Mass. – April 16, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team won its regular season finale on Thursday with a 5-4 victory over Wentworth. The Chargers enter postseason play with an 8-8 overall record and a 6-3 conference mark. Colby-Sawyer earns the fourth seed and will host the fifth seed, Nichols College, in the opening round of TCCC tournament action on Saturday, April 18 at noon.

Endicott Defeats Chargers 6-3

BEVERLY, Mass. – April 14, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to the Gulls of Endicott, on Tuesday in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls improve to 9-5 overall and 6-2 in the TCCC while Colby-Sawyer falls to 5-3 in conference and dips below .500 at 7-8 overall.

Chargers Fall to Brandeis, 7-2

WALTHAM, Mass. – April 13, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team was defeated by Brandeis 7-2, on Monday after noon at the Rieger Tennis Courts. The loss drops Colby-Sawyer's record to 7-7 overall while the win propels the Judge's record to 7-9.

Chargers Win Second Straight; Defeat Western New England 6-3

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - April 9, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team won its second straight match with a 6-3 victory over Western New England on Thursday. With the win, the Chargers improve to 7-6 overall and 5-2 in conference play. The Golden Bears dip to 7-5 overall and 4-3 in TCCC action.

Chargers Defeat Gordon, 6-3

WENHAM, Mass. – April 5, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team earned a 6-3 victory over the Fighting Scots of Gordon on Wednesday evening. The Chargers even their overall record to 6-6 and improve their TCCC mark to 4-2. Gordon falls to 5-11 overall and 2-5 in conference.

Chargers Fall to Roger Williams, 6-3

BRISTOL, R.I. – April 5, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team had its three match win streak snapped by the first place Hawks of Roger Williams on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks won 6-3 behind strong singles play. The Chargers drop to 5-6 overall and 3-2 in TCCC play. Roger Williams is now 9-6 overall and remains perfect in conference play with a 4-0 record.

Saturday's match at Roger Williams has been moved to Sunday. Sunday's match against Castleton has been postponed until further notice.

Chargers Win Third Straight; Defeat Nichols 6-2

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 1, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team handed Nichols its first conference loss of the season with a 6-2 victory over the Bison. The Chargers have won three straight matches and even their record at 5-5 overall and improve to 3-1 in TCCC play. Nichols falls to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in conference action.

Ben Taylor Named TCCC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

NEW LONDON, N.H. – April 1, 2009- Colby-Sawyer senior Ben Taylor (Derry, N.H.) was named TCCC Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his efforts against the Seahawks of Salve Regina University last week.

Men's Tennis Snaps Salve Regina's 68 Regular Season TCCC Game Win Streak with 5-4 Victory

NEW LONDON, N.H. - March 28, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team defeated the seven-time defending TCCC Champion Salve Regina Seahawks, 5-4 on Saturday, March 28. The last time Salve Regina lost a regular season conference game was on April 8, 2000 when they were defeated by Nichols, 8-1. The Chargers improve their overall record to 4-5 and 2-1 in conference play. Salve Regina drops to 3-7 overall and 2-1 in TCCC action.

Colby-Sawyer Defeats Norwich, 6-3

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – March 26, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's tennis team won a 6-3 decision against Norwich, Thursday afternoon in a non-league match at Shapiro Field House. The Chargers swept the three doubles sets, and then captured three of the six singles points en route to the victory.

Tuesday's Tennis Match Against Eastern Nazarene Cancelled

NEW LONDON, N.H. - March 23, 2009 - The men's tennis match originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 24 has been cancelled. The men will return to action on Thursday, March 26 with a match at Norwich.

Men's Tennis Selected Third in 2009 Preseason Poll

SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – February 23, 2009 – The Chargers have been picked to finish third in the 2009 preseason poll, announced yesterday by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. Voting for the poll was conducted among the league's head tennis coaches. The men finished their 2008 campaign with a 12-7 overall record and 7-2 in the conference, which was good enough to earn a No.3 seed in the tournament.

Kord Schwarz Chosen to Lead Tennis Program
