NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University swept the three doubles matches and won five singles matches in straight sets en route to an 8-1 win over Colby-Sawyer College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's tennis action Saturday.
Salve Regina (7-3, 2-0 TCCC) jumped out quickly, as senior Jason Lago [Seabrook, N.H.] and sophomore Andrew Martin [Glastonbury, Conn.] paired for an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles. The teams of Robbie Norton [SR/Exeter, N.H.]/Steve Masso [SO/North Scituate, R.I.] and Michael Collins [SR/Winchester, Mass.]/Trey Van Buskirk [La Jolla, Calif.] won at No. 2 and No.3 doubles, respectively.
Norton, Collins, Van Buskirk, Martin and freshman Chris Tolo [Shelton, Conn.] all won their singles matches in straight sets.
Colby-Sawyer (3-5, 0-1 TCCC) earned its point at No. 2 singles, as Ben Dabush [SO/Weston, Conn.] outlasted Lago 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8) in a super tiebreak.
Both teams play again on Sunday, March 30. Salve Regina travels to Wentworth Institute of Technology (12 p.m.), while Colby-Sawyer plays at Curry College (2 p.m.).
