Andrew Ferreira Named to TCCC All-Academic Team
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - May 31, 2009 – Nineteen Colby-Sawyer athletes were named to the Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Commissioner Gregg Kaye. A total of 362 student-athletes were honored and all 14 institutions in The Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the Academic All-Conference Team.
2008-2009 Men's Basketball Season Recap
Coach Bill Foti and his men's basketball team enjoyed another successful year as one of the top squads in The Commonwealth Coast Conference, posting a 10-3 conference record. The team recorded their eighth 20+ win season in program history, with a 20-8 overall record. The Chargers reached the TCCC Championship game for the third time in the last six years, and earned an ECAC Tournament appearance for the eighth time.
Szeliga, Bardaglio and Foti Honored by NH Basketball Coaches Association
NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 23, 2009 – Senior Duncan Szeliga (Newmarket, N.H.) was a First Team selection for a second straight season. Junior Jon Chaloux (Barre, Vt.) was named a Second Team All-State member. Freshman Will Bardaglio (Wayne, Maine) joined Chaloux on the Second Team, and was honored with the New Hampshire Rookie of the Year award.
No. 7 Seed Rivier Upsets No. 2 Seed Colby-Sawyer, 72-62
NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 4, 2009 – The No. 2 seed Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team was upset by the No. 7 Rivier Raiders in the opening round of the ECAC Tournament, 72-62, Wednesday evening. The Raiders were led by senior Lance Bisson (Nashua, N.H.), who scored 20 points and dished out seven assists. Senior Duncan Szeliga ended his Colby-Sawyer career with 20 points and a game-high 13 rebounds, for his third double-double of the season.
Men's Basketball Earns No. 2 Seed in ECAC Tournament; Hosts Rivier
NEW LONDON, N.H. – March 2, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team has earned the No. 2 seed in the ECAC tournament beginning on Wednesday, March 4. The Chargers will host the No. 7 seed Rivier at the Hogan Sports Center, with tip-off at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening.
Chargers Unable to Weather Hot Shooting by Nor'easters; Fall to UNE in TCCC Finals 90-79
BIDDEFORD, Maine – February 28, 2009 – The University of New England men's basketball team won the 2008-2009 TCCC Championship on their home floor, Saturday evening. The Nor'easters came away with a 90–79 victory behind hot shooting from three-point land. UNE improves to 24-4 overall, while the Chargers drop to 20-7.

Colby-Sawyer Charges Into TCCC Finals with 72-54 Win over Gordon
NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 26, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer Chargers advanced to the TCCC Championship game after a convincing 72-54, victory over Gordon, Thursday night in front of a packed Hogan Sports Center. As a team, the Chargers shot 54% from the field and were led by junior Jon Chaloux (Barre, Vt.) and his 23 points.
Colby-Sawyer Advances to Semifinals with 81-73 Win over Wentworth
NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 24, 2009 – The No. 2 seed Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team advanced to the TCCC Semifinals after earning an 81-73 victory over the No. 7 seed Leopards of Wentworth, Tuesday evening. Duncan Szeliga Lifts Chargers Past Wentworth, 72-57 On Senior Night
NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 18, 2009 – Junior Jon Chaloux (Barre, Vt.) led three Chargers in double-figures with 18 points to lift Colby-Sawyer to a 72-57 conference victory over the visiting Leopards of Wentworth. The Chargers improve to 18-5 overall and 10-2 in TCCC play. Wentworth drops to 9-15 overall and pulls even at 6-6 in the TCCC.
Nor'easters Stay Perfect In Conference Play With 81-72 Victory Over Colby-Sawyer
NEW LONDON, N.H. – February 14, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team dropped a hard fought battle to the University of New England, 81-72, in front of a packed house at the Hogan Sports Center, Saturday afternoon. The No. 10 regionally ranked Nor'easters extend their winning streak to 19 games and improve to 20-3 overall and a perfect 11-0 in TCCC action. The Chargers, whose five game winning-streak came to an end, fall to 17-5 and 9-2 within the conference.

WENHAM, Mass. - February, 10, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team was firing on all cylinders Tuesday night at the Bennett Center, en route to a 90-64 victory over Gordon. The Chargers have now won six consecutive games and are 17-4 overall, 9-1 in TCCC action.
Lemieux's Last-Second Layup Lifts Chargers Past Salve Regina, 75-73
NEWPORT, R.I. - February 7, 2009 - Senior guard Matt Lemieux (Manchester, N.H.) took an inbounds pass with six seconds left and went baseline to baseline to score the game-winning layup while leaving one second on the clock as visiting Colby-Sawyer College defeated Salve Regina University, 75-73, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action.
Chaloux Scores 22 in Chargers 67-56 Win Over Endicott
BEVERLY, Mass. – February 4, 2009 - Colby-Sawyer College got 22 points from Jon Chaloux (Barre, Vt.) and the Chargers' defense held the Gulls to just 56 points on 21-of-60 shooting (35%) as CSC downed Endicott, 67-56, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference game on Wednesday evening in Beverly, Mass. The win improves Colby-Sawyer to 15-4 overall and 7-1 in Conference play, while Endicott falls to 8-12 and 3-5 in the TCCC.

NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 31, 2009 – Freshman Will Bardaglio (Wayne, Maine) had a career-high 26 points to lead Colby-Sawyer to a 68-59 victory over Roger Williams. The Chargers improve to 14-4 overall and 6-1 in the commonwealth coast conference. Roger Williams suffers just its second conference loss (5-2) and moves to 9-9 overall.
Bardaglio and Rosso Score 16 in 73-63 Win Over Eastern Nazarene
QUINCY, Mass. - January 29, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team recovered from a half-time deficit to defeat Eastern Nazarene 73-63, on Thursday evening. The Chargers have won seven of their last eight games and hold an overall record of 13-4 and a TCCC mark of 5-1.
Chargers Earn 63-34 Win Over Lesley
NEW LONDON, N.H. - January 27, 2009 -The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team defeated Lesley, 63-34, in a non-conference match-up. The Chargers improved their overall record to 12-4, while the Lynx dropped to 3-13 on the season. Senior Duncan Szeliga (Newmarket, N.H.) collected a double-double as he scored a game-high 12 points and collected 11 rebounds.
Nichols Defeats Colby-Sawyer 70-68, Snapping Five-Game Win Streak
DUDLEY, Mass. – January 24, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers had their five game win streak snapped at the hands of Nichols in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action Saturday afternoon. The Bison, who improve to 8-9 overall and 3-2 in TCCC play, won the game 70-68. Colby-Sawyer drops to 11-4 overall and 4-1 in league action.

NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 17, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team won its fourth straight game on Saturday afternoon, defeating Anna Maria 86-55. The win propels the Chargers to a 10-3 overall record and a 3-0 TCCC record. Ann Maria falls to 3-12 overall and 0-3 in TCCC action.

Castleton, Vt. - January 15, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team took a break from TCCC action to travel to Castleton, on Thursday night. The Chargers defeated the Spartans 103-68, to improve to 9-3 overall. Castleton falls to 1-11.
Chargers Sail Past Pilgrims, 71-48
NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 13, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team improved to 2-0 in TCCC play and 8-3 overall, after a 71-48 win, over in-state rival New England College. It was a full team effort, as eleven players scored, led by freshman Will Bardaglio (Wayne, Maine), who tallied a career-high 21 points. The loss drops New England College to 2-11 overall and 0-2 in TCCC action.
Rosso Leads Four Chargers in Double-Figures as Colby-Sawyer Defeats Regis, 80-54
NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 10, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team opened TCCC play with a convincing 80-54 victory over Regis. Junior David Rosso (Wilmington, Vt.) led four Chargers in double-figures with 19 points. Colby-Sawyer improves its record to 7-3 overall and 1-0 in the TCCC. Regis evens its record to 6-6 overall and drops to 0-1 in the TCCC.
Chargers Drop 65-55 Decision to Middlebury
NEW LONDON, N.H. – January 8, 2009 – The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team dropped to 6-3 on the season, after suffering a 65-55 loss to Middlebury. The Chargers were unable to hang on to a halftime lead, as the Panthers improve to 11-2 behind their strong second half comeback.

NEW LONDON, N.H. – December 11, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball defeated the Polar Bears of Bowdoin, 63-57 on Thursday evening. The Chargers push their record to 6-2 after their fourth straight win. Bowdoin falters for just the second time this season dropping their record to 7-2.

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – December 7, 2008 - Seniors Andrew Cousins (South Portland, Maine) scored a game-high 21 points, and Duncan Szeliga (Newmarket, N.H.) added 20 points to lead Colby-Sawyer to a 74-58 victory over Norwich in the Ed Hockenbury Classic title game Saturday afternoon at Andrews Hall. The Chargers have won three straight improving their record to 5-2.

NASHUA, N.H. - November 22, 2008 - With a first half that boasted four lead changes and three ties, it was easy to see that this match was shaping up to go down to the wire. SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - November 10, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer men's basketball team has been selected as the favorite to win the 2008-09 TCCC men's basketball championship, as announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye, Monday morning. The voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the league's head men's basketball coaches.
