The 2009 Colby-Sawyer baseball team improved its 2008 batting average of .300 to .306 in 2009, which marks the third best team batting average in school history. The team had a great offensive season and was one of the most productive teams in school history compiling the third highest total of hits with 370. The Chargers achieved a top three ranking in most of the offensive categories in school history after their performance in 2009.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - May 31, 2009 Nineteen Colby-Sawyer athletes were named to the Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Commissioner Gregg Kaye. A total of 362 student-athletes were honored and all 14 institutions in The Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the Academic All-Conference Team.
MEDFORD, Mass. May 14, 2009 Colby-Sawyer senior Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.) has earned a trip to play at Campanelli Stadium after being named to the 2009 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-New England First Team. The game will be played on Thursday, June 4 with festivities beginning at 5:00 p.m. and first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. White is one of only two players from the TCCC to be named to the first team.
NEW LONDON, N.H. April 30, 2009 Colby-Sawyer seniors Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.) and Chris Gaeta (Lynn, Mass.) have been honored by the TCCC for their performance on the baseball diamond this season. White earned a nod to the All-TCCC First Team for the second time of his career, while Gaeta was named to the All-TCCC Second Team.

April 29, 2009 - Sophomore Charlie Matarazzo (Montville, N.J.) struck out 12 and classmate Brandon Bursie (Smithfield, R.I.) drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to propel the No. 4 seed Salve Regina University baseball team to a 4-2 win over No. 8 seed Colby-Sawyer in an elimination game in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) playoffs Wednesday afternoon at Reynolds Field.
MILTON, Mass. - April 28, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team was defeated by top seeded Curry in TCCC tournament action on Tuesday. Senior Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.) continued hit hot hitting with three homeruns in the game, including two in one inning. The Chargers will play on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. at Salve Regina, who lost to Endicott 10-0.
NEW LONDON, N.H. April 27, 2009 Colby-Sawyer senior Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.) has been named the TCCC Baseball Player of the Week, according to a release by the conference office. White had a staggering week at the plate hitting .522 over the course of five games. He also registered 13 RBI and scored 12 runs.
NEW LONDON, N.H. April 26, 2009 The Colby-Sawyer baseball team dropped its regular season finale to Worcester State, 14-13 in a back and forth battle that featured four ties and five lead changes. Worcester State improves to 26-11 overall while the Chargers finish the regular season at 15-22.
NEW LONDON, N.H. - April 25, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team swept the Crusaders of Eastern Nazarene in the team's final TCCC regular season doubleheader. The Chargers trailed 12-5 in the seventh inning of game one before scoring eight times in the bottom half to earn the 13-12 walk off victory. Colby-Sawyer won game two easily, 16-4. With the wins, the Chargers earn the final spot in the TCCC playoffs and will play at Curry on Tuesday, April 28.
Henniker, N.H. April 22, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team earned two victories in a sweep over New England College, winning game one 8-0 and game two 15-5. With the sweep the Chargers improve to 13-21 overall and 7-13 in conference play. The losses drop the Pilgrims to 8-20 overall and 3-17 in the conference.

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - April 16, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team was on the wrong end of a 16-5 decision with Plymouth State on Thursday in non-conference baseball action at Panther Park. The Chargers are now 11-17 on the season.
BEVERLY, Mass. April 15, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team was swept by Endicott College on Wednesday, by scores of 5-4 and 8-0 on North Field in Beverly, Mass. The wins improve the Gulls to 11-17 overall and 6-8 in league play, while the Chargers fall to 11-16 and 5-9 against Conference opponents.

The win pushes the Chargers' record to 10-13 while the Owls fall to 9-15.

April 9, 2009 - Reigning TCCC Rookie of the Week Justin Martin (Lebanon, N.H.) went 5-for-6 with three doubles, three runs scored and six runs batted in, and Matt Rosa (Manchester, N.H.) yielded just two unearned runs over 5.1 innings of relief to help spur Colby-Sawyer to a 20-9 victory over Norwich in a non-conference contest Thursday afternoon at Garrity Field.

The Bison earned a 13-7 victory in the first game and followed with a dominant pitching performance in game two, winning 8-1. Colby-Sawyer had its four game win streak snapped and fell to 8-13 overall and 4-6 in conference play. Nichols improved to 9-11 overall and 4-6 in TCCC play.
NEW LONDON, N.H. April 4, 2009 The Colby-Sawyer baseball team swept both games of a double header against Gordon on a cold and snowy Saturday afternoon. The Chargers led the entire first game en route to a 9-5 victory. In game two, the Chargers fought back from a four-run deficit to earn a 16-7 win. Colby-Sawyer has won four straight games and improves their overall record to 8-11 and evens their conference record to 4-4. Gordon falls to 2-13 overall and 1-7 in TCCC play.

The AMCATS took game one by a score of 9-3 before senior Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.) drove in three runs in game two to lift the Chargers to an 8-3 win. BRISTOL, R.I. March 28, 2009 - The Roger Williams University Baseball team split a doubleheader against Colby-Sawyer College Saturday afternoon. The Hawks won the first game 3-0 while the Chargers won the second 8-6 for first The Commonwealth Coast Conference victory of the season.
NASHUA, N.H. - March 25, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer Chargers came back from a 7-1 deficit in the first inning to defeat Daniel Webster 16-12, on Wednesday evening. The team spread out 20 hits in the game with every player registering at least one. Batters two through six in the order each had three hits.
EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. March 22, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team traveled to play a double-header with Wentworth on Sunday afternoon. The Leopards won the first game, 9-3 and also took game 2 10-9 in 10 innings.
PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. March 13, 2009 The Colby-Sawyer baseball team lost both ends of a double-header today versus Skidmore, 15-12 and 12-6, at legendary Miller Huggins Field. AUBURNDALE, Fla. March 11, 2009 The Colby-Sawyer baseball team beat Drew University 5-2, Wednesday afternoon, as the Chargers pitching staff held the Rangers to only two hits. In his first collegiate start, freshman Matt Rosa (Manchester, N.H.) pitched six solid innings, scattering two hits and striking out four. Tri-captains, Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.), Chris Hartery (Billerica, Mass.) and Chris Gaeta (Lynn, Mass.) all collected two hits each, while freshman Ryan Lawless (Charlemont, Mass.) rocketed his first homerun down the left field line.
AUBURNDALE, Fla. - March 8, 2009 The Colby-Sawyer baseball team picked up their first win of the 2009 campaign as they split a doubleheader with SUNY-IT underneath the bright sun of Auburndale, Fla. at Lake Myrtle Park. In game one, the Wildcats got the best of the Chargers 5-2, but Colby-Sawyer came from behind and won in nine innings, 4-3, in game two.
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - March 7, 2009 - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team kicked off its 2009 campaign with a Saturday non-conference double-header with Fitchburg State. The Chargers were defeated 9-5 in game one and 4-3 in game two.
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. February 23, 2009 The Colby-Sawyer baseball team has been selected to finished seventh in the 2009 TCCC preseason poll, which is conducted among the league's head baseball coaches. The Chargers, who ended last year in seventh with a 14-23 overall record and 10-12 in the conference, had their best offensive year in recent memory, but were hampered by several key injuries.
NEW LONDON, N.H. - September 9, 2008 - The Colby-Sawyer College baseball program has released two fall dates including September 28, with a double-header against New England College at 11:00 a.m. The alumni game will be held on October 11, 2008 at 10:00 a.m.
Offense. That was the theme for head coach Jim Broughton's 2008 Colby-Sawyer baseball team.
And while offensive production was up (the team batted .300, their highest batting average since 2003 and hit 27 home runs, the most since 2000), the Chargers struggled out of the gate and could not string together more than three wins in a row, as injuries and a team ERA of 6.67 led to a 14-23 overall record for the Chargers.
