Bats were Great in '08
Offense. That was the theme for head coach Jim Broughton's 2008 Colby-Sawyer baseball team.
And while offensive production was up (the team batted .300, their highest batting average since 2003 and hit 27 home runs, the most since 2000), the Chargers struggled out of the gate and could not string together more than three wins in a row, as injuries and a team ERA of 6.67 led to a 14-23 overall record for the Chargers.
Ramsay Named to TCCC All-Academic Team

NEWPORT, R.I. – May 1, 2008 - Salve Regina sophomore Riley Diaz [Miami, Fla.] drove in the deciding runs with a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to help No. 6 Salve Regina University rally for a 9-6 victory over No. 7 Colby-Sawyer College in an elimination game in The Commonwealth Coast Conference baseball playoffs Thursday.
Four Chargers Earn All-TCCC Recognition
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. - May 1, 2008 - Colby-Sawyer had four players earn All-The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) accolades headed by junior Chris Gaeta (Lynn, Mass.) a First Team selection. Sophomore Chris Hartery (Billerica, Mass.), senior Kris Ramsay (Gardiner, Maine) and junior Tom White (Lisbon, N.H.) were all named to the Second Team as announced today by the conference office.

MILTON, MASS. - April 30, 2008 - Curry College sophomore P. J. McGuinness' RBI single in the bottom of the 15th broke an 8-8 deadlock and lifted the 2nd-seeded Colonels to a 9-8 win against 7th-seeded Colby-Sawyer College in first round action in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Tournament.

Chargers Drop Regular-Season Finale to Lancers
Worcester, Mass. – April 27, 2008 - The Worcester State College baseball team earned their 20th win of the season Sunday afternoon at Fitton Field on the campus of Holy Cross with an, 11-4, victory over Colby-Sawyer College. The win came on senior day as 8 Worcester State Lancers were honored in pre-game festivities. The win is Worcester State's 6th in a row and they have now won 14 of 17 as they head towards their regular season finale on Tuesday. The Lancers are now 20-16 while Colby-Sawyer falls to 14-21.

NEW LONDON, N.H. - April 26, 2008 - Reigning The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Player of the Week Chris Gaeta (Lynn, Mass.) hit two home runs, a solo shot in the bottom of the first inning of game one and a two-run shot in the bottom of the sixth in game two, helping the Colby-Sawyer Chargers earn a split with the Gulls of Endicott College in the final regular season conference game for both teams.
Chargers Sweep New England College
HENNIKER, N.H. – April 23, 2008 - The visiting Colby-Sawyer College Chargers combined for 31 runs beating the New England College Pilgrims twice Wednesday afternoon in Henniker. The sweep improves the Chargers to 13-19 overall and 9-11 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference. The losses drop the Pilgrims to 6-24 overall and 2-18 in the TCCC.

NEW LONDON, N.H. - April 20, 2008 – Junior Chris Gaeta (Lynn, Mass.) hit his second home run of the day, a two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College a 13-12 win in game one of a doubleheader with Western New England College on Sunday afternoon. Western New England won game two 9-5 to salvage a split.

NEW LONDON, N.H. - April 19, 2008 - The Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College overcame a six-run deficit in game two of a doubleheader with the Colonels of Curry College to earn a split with the defending The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) champions Saturday afternoon at Kelsey Field, dropping game one 20-7 and taking the nightcap 10-7.
Coach Broughton Notches 200th Win
NEW LONDON, N.H. - April 17, 2008 - Colby-Sawyer's Shane Hoagboon (Mayfield, N.Y.) scored on a passed ball to break up a 0-0 tie in the bottom of the fourth inning and Matt Corvo (Stratton Mt., Vt.) added a two RBI single later in the inning to help the Chargers pick up a 7-5 win over Plymouth State in non-conference baseball action. The win also gave Colby-Sawyer head coach Jim Broughton No. 200 for his career.
Seahawks Down Chargers
NEWPORT, R.I. – Sophomore Alex Magnan [Narragansett, R.I.] and freshman Pat Quinn [Middletown, N.J.] each had complete-game victories as Salve Regina University swept Colby-Sawyer College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference baseball action Sunday. The Seahawks (18-12-1, 8-7-1 TCCC) won the first game, 4-1, then took the nightcap, 4-3.

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Freshman Ben Danker's (Branford, Conn.) two-out, RBI single in the top of the eighth inning snapped a 3-all tie and enabled the Wentworth baseball team to sweep Colby-Sawyer with a 4-3 win. Chargers Picked 6th in Pre-Season Poll
SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – February 26, 2008 – Colby-Sawyer has been picked to finish sixth in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) preseason poll, it was announced today by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. The Chargers finished fourth last season in TCCC play with a 13-7 record and were 18-19 overall. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the league's head baseball coaches.
Fall Ball Schedule Set
NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Colby-Sawyer baseball team has announced dates for their fall ball season, including a doubleheader against TCCC foe New England College and the annual alumni game. The Chargers will play host to New England College on Sunday, September 30 at 11 a.m. for a doubleheader and then will host players, both past and present, for the annual alumni game on Saturday, October 6 at 10 a.m.
