Professional Preparation
The Fine and Performing Arts Program places a strong emphasis on professional preparation. Art students gain valuable professional experience through the required internship program. Internships are designed to provide students with an on-site art experience such as in a communication design organization.
A faculty member serves as the student's internship sponsor. An application and study plans must be submitted to the chair of the department for approval prior to the beginning of the internship. Students may take more than one internship.

Colby-Sawyer Art students have interned with museums and art centers, advertising agencies, publishers, and design studios throughout the United States. Recent internship placements include Dartmouth College Hopkins Center, Currier Museum of Art, Intel, Dorset Theater Festival, Fuller Museum, Harp and Company Graphic Design Studios, and the New Hampshire State Council for the Arts.
The Harrington Center for Career and Academic Advising
Students are encouraged to use the resources of the Harrington Center for Career and Academic Advising, where they can meet with a counselor to explore career options, internship opportunities and graduate schools.
