Generous scholarship donors and their grateful student recipients will join together at this annual luncheon to celebrate the power and impact of scholarship support at Colby-Sawyer College.

Staying Safe in the HospitalWheeler Hall, Ware Student Center
In 1999, the Institute of Medicine shocked the health care world by reporting that up to 98,000 people die each year due to mistakes made in hospitals. Today, the number is much higher, with as many as 440,000 hospitalized patients each year suffering preventable harm that contributes to their death. Medical error is now the third-leading cause of death in America behind heart disease and cancer. Gladys A. Burrows Distinguished Professor of Nursing Susan Reeves '88 (EdD, RN), Chair of the Nursing and Public Health Department, will discuss measures deployed in today's health organizations to keep patients safe, and what patients and families can do to promote their own safe care.

In the Gallery with TomieMarian Graves Mugar Art Gallery
Join world-renowned children's author and illustrator Tomie dePaola for a gallery talk and reception. The exhibit, “Tomie dePaola: NOW,” featuring a selection of his work from 1975 to the present day, will be on display. A selection of his books will be available for purchase at the gallery, courtesy of Morgan Hill Bookstore. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the new Colby-Sawyer Fine and Performing Arts Center. Tomie will sign books purchased at the event at the conclusion of the reception.


6 p.m.
Class of 1964 Dinner Cruise on Lake Sunapee
Join your classmates aboard the MV Sunapee II for a scenic dinner cruise around Lake Sunapee. Advance registration is required. Registrants must be on board by 5:45 p.m. Vans will depart from the back of Colgate Hall at 5:20 p.m.

Digital Storytelling WorkshopColgate Hall, Room 301
Storytelling is an integral part of the human experience. With today's technology, it is easy to create digital stories that combine personal narratives, images and music into deeply affecting works. In this workshop led by Assistant Director of Advancement Communications Mike Gregory, we will look at examples of the form and give you the tools to start telling your own personal stories.
