Presented each year at Alumni Fall Festival, this award recognizes a young alumna/us for significant achievement and contribution within her/his chosen field and community. Eligible nominees should reflect positively on Colby-Sawyer while providing an example of leadership and inspiration to young alumni. Alumni of the last 15 years, 1996-2010 for the 2011 award, are eligible for this award.
2010 Award Recipient: Drew Drummond '02
Following his graduation from Colby-Sawyer, Drew worked as the strategic partnership and events manager for the NH Lodging & Restaurant Association. Since June of 2008, he has been employed by International Woodfuels as regional business development director. The mission of International Woodfuels is to dramatically reduce fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through the conversion of hundreds of schools, colleges, commercial, state and institutional properties to a locally sourced, renewable and inexpensive source of thermal energy. Drew has been instrumental in conversations with Colby-Sawyer, helping the college to explore alternative fuel sources to lessen its dependence on propane. He is affiliated with a number of industry-related groups and associations, including NH Businesses for Social Responsibility, the Maine Education Plant Maintenance Association, Maine Businesses for Sustainabililty and the Maine Pellet Fuels Association. Drew is also active in the Concord Young Professionals Network.
Drew has always been passionate about skiing and was a standout on his team during his years at Colby-Sawyer. In 2008, Drew became the first skier in the college's history to be inducted into the Colby-Sawyer Athletic Hall of Fame. Drew has served as the Head Junior 3 Alpine ski coach at Mt. Sunapee since 2002, coaching 13 and 14 year old girls and boys, and is a member of the NH Alpine Racing Association, where he serves as a Junior 3 Division Chairperson.
Drew, along with his wife, Amy Potter Drummond '00, continues to be an active member of the Colby-Sawyer community. A member of the President's Alumni Advisory Council since 2007, Drew served on his class reunion committee for his 5th year reunion and is on the board of directors of the Chargers Club, Colby-Sawyer's Athletic Booster club.
