Bob Gray, Founder and AIL Stalwart
Bob Gray's passing marks the loss of one of the last of the Greatest Generation. In October, 2008, Bob stood tall with seven AIL members, all veterans of World War II. They participated in the course “The Greatest Generation,” offering other AIL members personal testimony of the valor and sacrifice made by young people often just out of high school. Bob's experience was as a Naval aviator, and this led to his career as a Washington attorney specializing in aviation industry issues. Bob was an AIL stalwart. He was part of the founding group, a member of the Board from 2000 to 2004, and he wrote our original by-laws. In addition, he was a study leader who blended Greek and Roman classics with his own brand of tongue-in-cheek humor. His passing is a loss to both AIL and the greater community.
