A grand evening with Opera North's Young Artists
Following a warm welcome by Adventures in Learning President, Morris Edwards, and a further welcome with introductory remarks by Colby-Sawyer President, Tom Galligan, the audience at the Sawyer Fine Arts Center at Colby-Sawyer College was treated to an evening of the magnificent voices of the Young Artists of Opera North. There were arias from Donizetti, Rossini, Menotti, Puccini and Mozart, among others.
In between the featured acts, Opera North Artistic Director, Louis G. Burkot presented background information and stories to illuminate the music and the artists. The post-performance reception featured meeting, greeting and conversing with the Young Artists while partaking of iced refreshments and a sumptuous dessert.
It was truly a lovely evening enjoyed by all in attendance. The net proceeds from the evening will benefit the Opera North Young Artists program and the Adventures in Learning scholarship fund.
