High School Transcript.
Note: if you have taken any college level courses, you are required to apply as a transfer applicant. Please see below for additional information about the transfer admission process.
Teacher or College Counselor Recommendation. The person who writes this recommendation should have a strong sense of your academic abilities.
Essay: Your one-page essay may be written on a topic of your choice, or may also be a graded paper from a class with professor notes included.
Test scores are required if English is not your first language so that we may assess your English proficiency. We accept: TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language), IELTS (International English Language Testing System,) SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test,) or ACT (American College Testing.) We are looking for a minimum TOEFL of 500/173 for the paper based test, or a minimum internet based test score of 61 is required for admission. We are looking for a 500 on each section of the SAT and a composite of 21 on the ACT, with strong verbal scores (English and Critical Reading).
Note: We require official scores from the testing company or else verified by your high school as valid.) We do not have a preference over which test score you submit
Note: The next available semester we are accepting applications for is Spring 2013, which begins in mid January. The deadline to apply for spring is November 1st, 2012.
Applying to Colby-Sawyer as an International Transfer Student
Note: If you have graduated from secondary school and have taken any college courses, you are considered a transfer student and are required to apply under this category.
As an international transfer student, you are required to submit all of the above materials, in addition to:
An official copy of your college transcript. A WES course-by-course evaluation, certification, and translation of the transcript is also required if you are transferring from a college outside the United States. For Fall (September 2012) entry, WES materials must be received by August 1.
