rights & responsibilities

As a student financial aid consumer, you have the right to

  • know what financial assistance is available, including all federal, state, and institutional financial assistance programs

  • know the deadline for each of the financial assistance programs

  • an explanation of the various programs in your financial aid award

  • confidential protection of your financial aid records as mandated by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

As a student financial aid consumer, you have the responsibility to

  • comply with all college financial aid deadlines

  • complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year you attend the college

  • respond promptly to all requests for information requested by a financial aid officer

  • read and understand all forms you are asked to submit or sign

  • keep copies of all forms that you submit or sign

  • notify the college of any changes in name or address

  • notify lenders of any changes in name or address

  • comply with the college's Refund and Return of Title IV Fund policy should you withdraw from the college

  • comply with the college's Satisfactory Academic Progress policy

  • comply with any federal regulations/guidelines
