What do you like about the area?
I really enjoy the small town feeling that I get from living in the New London community. It's such a quaint little town where people seem to know who you are and care about how you're doing.
What advice can you give a student about the college search process?
When starting the college process, it can get a bit overwhelming. My advice would be to start early by visiting campuses you think will suit your preferences. Even before you apply to a school, it's a good idea to physically step onto a campus a few times and get a feel for it. Personally, I found it much easier to make my final college decision once I visited each school's campus that I was applying to.
What is your favorite part of campus?
My favorite part of campus is the theater. I spend so much of my time there just from working backstage for shows, having class there, designing parts of shows, performing, etc. Although the building is very old, it has so much character to it. I've learned a lot about performing and collaborating to put on shows together from our technical director Mike Lovell, previous directors and producers of plays, my peers that are actors, as well as my peers from the Dance Club. Being part of theater at Colby-Sawyer has truly changed me.
Something about myself
As you may have noticed, something new I discovered about myself is my love for dance. I have never taken dance classes up until this past summer when I had a few ballroom dance lessons. One of the best things about coming to Colby-Sawyer was that with my lack of experience in the area, I was welcomed with open arms into the Dance Club, in which I can perform in their show twice a year. Everyone has been so supportive for my new found interest, and I am very thankful for this because now I can carry on this passion for the rest of my life.
