All of Colby-Sawyer College's academic programs blend the liberal arts and sciences with professional preparation. We believe that a strong liberal education is necessary to be an effective citizen of our rapidly changing and increasingly smaller world.
Our Liberal Education Program allows students to discover and develop their talents, adapt to change, and serve their communities in the following ways:
In our Proficiencies courses, students master the foundational skills they will need to perform effectively in the classroom and as members of the larger community.
In our Pathway courses, students discover the connectedness of knowledge and work collaboratively with other learners.
In our Exploration courses, students broaden their knowledge in the various arts and sciences disciplines.
In our Capstone course, taken in the senior year, students apply their accumulated knowledge in a culminating project.
Through Across-the-College Learning Experiences in residential education, leadership opportunities on campus, internships and community service, students' varied experiences become part of their cohesive educational experience.
Finally, through E-Portfolios , our students demonstrate their growth from first to senior year in the achievement of the Liberal Education Program's Learning Outcomes.
