student activities

Word Order

Word Order, the club for English majors, organizes activities and events related to literary studies. It also discusses issues and questions related to the major in ways that benefit both students and faculty. It sponsored the recent Slam Fest on campus which featured film screenings, a poetry workshop, and performances of slam poetry by students and faculty alike.

Restless Minds

The Restless Minds Program invites students to attend cultural events in the surrounding area. Recent destinations have included the Capitol Center for the Arts, the Hopkins Center, the Hood Museum, and the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum.

Colby-Sawyer Student Literary Magazine

For almost one hundred years the Colby-Sawyer Student Literary Magazine has published the best examples of student writing. Students select the format, choose the works they want to include, and oversee each phase of the publication process. This emphasis on student control, and the excellence of student work have lead to a special scholarship, which is given to foster creative writing at the college. In addition to the annual literary magazine, students have, in some years, chosen to publish a monthly literary broadside, and offer literary readings for campus and community audiences.

WSCS 90.9 FM

WSCS is the student-run radio station serving the community with a diverse schedule of music, news, sports, interviews, and radio theatre.

Colby-Sawyer Courier

The Colby-Sawyer Courier is the college's student newspaper. Students write, edit, design, and compose pages, take and develop photos, and sell advertisements.
