college governance

Our President…

President Thomas C. Galligan joined the college in 2006 after 20 years of teaching and academic leadership. He serves as the college's chief executive officer, responsible for all college functions, activities and policies.

Board of Trustees…

Under New Hampshire law, the Board of Trustees is the college's institutional authority, and as such grants all degrees issued by the college and holds primary responsibility for articulating its educational policies and academic goals.

Senior Staff…

The senior staff provide administrative leadership for the college by planning, coordinating and evaluating all areas of college life, articulating the institution's vision, and developing and implementing strategies to achieve the college's goals and objectives.

Advisory Group…

The President's Alumni Advisory Council is an influential and important group which meets twice yearly to focus on and offer advice about current college topics, such as strategic planning, enrollment, diversity and marketing.

Strategic Plan…

The Colby-Sawyer College Strategic Plan, implemented in October 2008, outlines the college's most important priorities and goals and serves as an essential guide to the college community. Collaboration will be critical to achieving its 11 goals.

Strategic Themes…

In May 2010, President Tom Galligan introduced four themes, based on a community-wide planning process, which highlight the college's strengths and move the institution toward excellence in many areas.

Mission Statement…

Colby-Sawyer's mission statement expresses the educational philosophy of the college and the primary focus of our community. The mission defines the college as a "liberal arts and sciences" institution which integrates professional preparation into its educational experience and fosters academic excellence and individual development.
